Read here for background on the arrest of Indy punter Pat McAfee. Several thoughts:
- This isn’t surprising at all. Check out this picture of him. Whenever I see him punting on TV, my immediate thought is that the guy doesn’t look like an NFL player – he looks more like a surfer. Reminds me of Jeff Spicoli.
- He only blew a .15 yet he had his clothes off, was swimming in some canal and he could barely stand? Lightweight.
- Given the NFL’s concerning focus under Roger Goodell of cracking down on absolutely everything, I’ve heard McAfee faces a 4 year ban. (In the old NFL, he would have been banned too – for being a lightweight.)

I don’t understand what this has to do with his ability to punt the ball on Sundays. He got drunk and did not hurt anyone. Why is this a problem?

Nice Trav.
I actually agree with you Joe – I posted this just because it didn’t surprise me that he parties…because he looks like a big-time party dude. And I have absolutely no problem with him partying at all – he’s 23 and he should be partying! In fact, what bothered me about the way this story evolved today was that eventually Bill Polian weighed in and “hinted” as PFT contends, at possible discipline. Seems so over the top to me. Lots of these guys are young guys who do stuff mostly because they’re still young -and if this was a truly harmless incident, discipline is simply not needed. If, however, he threatened that woman or nearly harmed someone – then it’s a bit different.

Regarding point 2, ROTFLMAO, I had the same thought. He kinda reminds me of Travis Jervey, who I used to surf with in Santa Cruz when he was playing for the Niners.

The colts suspended him for a game.
