Read here from PFT and here from the GB Press Gazette. He’s not happy with yesterday’s defensive performance, nor was Tramon. I’m glad they’re calling it as it is. Yes, I too am happy, like McCarthy, to be 8-0. That by itself is a very impressive accomplishment in today’s NFL. But we’re bound to lose a few games, especially to better offensive opponents who manage to keep pace with our offense. Rosenthal from PFT asks which NFC team will put up the points needed to beat us. I think right now the Eagles and the Saints are two who could do it and they are 2 teams I still think will be in the mix at the end of the year.
This defense needs to improve.

From a press gazette column:
What’s puzzling is Raji showed an explosive first step last year and we’re not seeing that. Maybe part of it is that in the base defense, he’s oftentimes playing an end position this year and that means he has a longer way to go to get to the quarterback. Plus, in third-and-short, he has to read more instead of firing upfield.
The rest of it is worth checking out. There are some sound observations made in there. They might have something with Raji playing a different position…
Also Neal practices on Thursday.

5-0 on the road may be the most impressive stat this year. They have eight wins and five home games left this year.
Three of the their last four games are at home. Factor in a first round bye and a home playoff game and the schedule lines up pretty good for a fresh healthy untraveled team going into the playoffs.

1. I agree the Saints are a problem; getting a win in the Super Dome this year could be a real problem. But with a 3 game lead and 8 games to go, the Packers will have bigger problems if the Saints manage to catch up. But I think the Packers can make it 2-0 at Lambeau if they have to, especially if the second round gets played in January.
2. The Eagles are (probably) not going to the playoffs. They need to win at least 6 of their last 8 games to have an outside chance at a wildcard spot, which would be a major turn-around from how they’ve been playing so far.

I wouldn’t count out the 49ers or the Lions. They both could rattle Rodgers w/pass rush–GB’s O line still needs help–as well as the defense.
