More on Desmond Bishop

More love for Desmond Bishop, this time from a pro personnel director.

Earlier in the week, a personnel director for another team became the latest scout to praise Bishop based on his extreme productivity in exhibition games.

“How does he not get on the field?” the scout said. “If you watched (Nick) Barnett the first four games you’d say Bishop is a better football player. He makes more plays than Hawk. Maybe there’s something I don’t know but I know this: That guy was making like nine, 10 tackles a game in preseason.”

Bishop had 24 tackles, two interceptions, one sack, one forced fumble and one recovered fumble in exhibition games. Of the seven fumbles forced by the entire linebacking corps in the last 20 games, three were by Bishop in a mere 142 snaps.

With so many personnel people having spoken highly of Bishop, it stands to reason that at least one team might try to acquire him before the trading deadline, which is 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Don’t trade him.  Play him.

Man if they trade Bishop I might have to boycott GB until TT & MM are gone. Absolutely absurd.

I just can’t wrap my head why they won’t try different options, with someone they’ve seen that could very well possibly contribute. Like the problem I notice with the team is to stick to what is scripted, and eventually make a SMALL change when everyone starts blasting them. The Oline is holding up this team from playing like it did in pre season, it won’t click until we can fix that Oline. Sometimes sticking with it works, but when its that bad, it better fix immediately or you need to figure out a different way.

We’ve added Tauscher, ok, and Clifton is back.. but when is Tauscher going to be ready? Because that Minnesota game is coming up, and hell we can’t lose this one too. The Oline has been horrid basically since McCarthy came here, so if it doesn’t get turned around before the season is over, that off season we better see a change. And even scrap that stupid ZBS that just may also be the problem. As a true loyal packer fan I will be exteremely dissapointed if we don’t properly address the problem and not “rebuild” the problem. The team is not in rebuilding stages, we got a high class team, being used poorly.

I like McCarthy, but I’m beginning to not be a fan of him. Several decisions just don’t seem to make sense, like finding out if Bishop can still do what he did in pre season while in regular season. Look if Barnett and Hawk aren’t doing anything too well, why not give Bishop a solid chance (not a few plays in certain times of the game) and see what happens. I mean the guy doesn’t seem to be one who a team will be able to kill us with.

Aswell, I’m hoping the defence and Capers plays the defence they did in pre season. I’m not even talking about production, the production will come when the defence is doing the things it did in pre season. So many looks (and we were told that wasn’t even close to the full playbook that they showed), blitzes and tons of pressure. Disrupting the offence and confusing them.

I’m just not impressed by this team thus far. A team that I think has the talent just ain’t using it like it should be, and could hold us from getting where we could. We are far from out, its 2 losses, and if we get a big win streak going, things can really shape out nicely, but were looking more as if we want to waste this year than actually do what we really can this year.

The bengals loss after seeing what they’ve been doing each week doesn’t entirely dissapoint me. We also didn’t play well and had a chance to even win still. Minnesota is obviously a good team so losing to a team like that is not suprising. But its also one of those games we NEED to win, so in a couple weeks, we gotta take a win in our house.

Comeon Packers, we still got a chance, lets not sit there and let it fly

I think I’ll go out and bash my head on the wall and make myself feel better.

  4. Travis Says:

I’m out of wall space at my place, mind if I use some of yours? I’d fix my walls but it wouldn’t take long for them to go back to normal.

  5. 56Coop Says:

    (How’d Poppinga look to you?)
Good. Brady’s Brady. He flew around today like he always does.

McCarthey’s comments from 10/15 presser. Too bad he does most of his “flying around” after the tackle has been made.

Glad to see I’m not the only one with wall problems.

  6. Ron La Canne Says:

56, I saw that little MM gem too. Is this guy 100% clueless? He runs around misses every tackle, can’t cover in space and all we get is “Brady is beibg Brady – Yuk, Yuk”! I’ve seen marble statues with more flexibilty and personality than MM.

  7. Travis Says:

He must be clueless, or a very very stubborn guy.

    Back to wall!

  8. 56Coop Says:

I think it’s more of the latter Trav. Just can’t believe his decisions can be wrong.

  9. 56Coop Says:

Does McCarthey not know any running plays other than up the middle?

Also, he needs to spend 4 or 5 hours with his offensive team teaching proper formation sets and just gettiing in stance, calling signals and every time a lineman jumps the whole offense should take a lap. Just absolutely ridiculous penalties (again). Clifton’s been playing too many years to not know where to set up properly.

2 great 1st drives–don’t try tio sit on the lead. Please keep playing the same scheme.

I’m at work watching on my lap top–no customers. Obviously you guys are watching football as it should be watched–either at a bar or with friends

    Have fun. GO PACK

  10. 56Coop Says:

9 points that should have been 27. Against Detroit–without some of their starters. Oh well, at least we’re winning & so far, shutting them out defensively.

  11. 56Coop Says:

How much longer do we depend on Tauscher & Clifton. Get a freakin O-line. 5 sacks-against Detroit–Geez

  12. Ron La Canne Says:

Establish the run early and take the heat off Rodgers. Discipline MM, Discipline! Jackson demonstrates why we can’t expect him to carry the ball too often, he fumbles all too often.

Damn Queenies win today and that’s 2 and 1/2 game lead with 10 to go for the Queeies. That’s not going to be easy.

  13. RayMidge Says:

At least they seemed to bench Poppinga today and play Matthews a lot more and (surprise) he was very productive. Next step is Bishop in for Hawk.

  14. Travis Says:

Clifton is re-injured!! This Oline is on fire! I’m going to seriously have my head through my friggin tv this week if I don’t see a change. I’m so mad, the Lions have a pitiful line, who still can get 5 sacks. How many times we were in their territory, redzone, and couldn’t get TD’s and settled for multiple (4) short field goals. Against Detroit.

It’s a shutout, well atleast the defence did something. The Offence did produce, with the fact Rodgers/Driver/Jennings/James Jones/Finley and somewhat Grant are all relatively good.. Except can only be so good with a dam failure of a line.

I’m happy about the defence. Still alot more that can be done, but not an area of concern especially if our offence could get on fire like it should be.
I’m happy about our WR’s and Rodgers. They do make some big plays. They do move the ball.
I’m NOT happy about the drops. Game after game.
I’m NOT happy about the penalties. Embarrassing. Period.
I’m NOT happy about the Oline. Make a trade and find new players. Do something!
I’m NOT happy with some of the coaching. Finally seeing more changes to personnel playing, now get rid of that stubborn attitude and play the one’s who are out there making plays! Don’t want it to go back to how it was, make the one’s who are taken out earn that spot back!
I’m NOT happy that these things need to be said, this team should not be in this position.

The list could go on and on. 26-0 looks great, but when we play good teams, we may easily be on the lion’s end of those games.

And the biggest thing that HAS to be addressed is that line. Something has to happen. If we got to trade, fine! We got till Tuesday. If we got to start someone else. Fine. We must do something. We’ve seen 5 games of this line, it has not changed. It has not gotten better. Clifton is hurt again. Tauscher may help, but its not one side of the line that is causing problems. This SHOULD be a very busy week for the Packers, cause there’s no way it can just stay like it is.

I know I ramble. But plenty to say about this team so it’s not hard to do. Comeon Packers, there are alot of good to this team, with a few things just killing this team.
