This article by Jim Corbett (usatoday.com) paints a fairly optimistic picture of the Packers 2009 defense. Woodson is excited, McCarthy, TT, Capers, analysts, fans and interestingly, Kampman are all excited too. I haven’t read much from Kampman since this 3-4 switch, but judging from these comments, I think he’s now officially excited about this defense too:
“If we execute, we can be a very good defense,” Kampman says. “It’s a targeting issue for the offense. We can create an unpredictability just by scheme and alignment. We’re a multiple-front look. We’ll always be an unpredictable defense, and that’s what we’re after.”
Is Kampman licking his chops, knowing how Miami’s Jason Taylor emerged as the 2006 Defensive Player of the Year with 13½ sacks after making the shift from defensive end to 3-4 outside linebacker in Capers’ scheme?
“It could be great,” Kampman says. “There could be some great opportunities. We have different ways to attack quarterbacks, so that presents some possibilities that I could have a great year.”

I think that TD got him a little fired up — I will say though that last sentence bothers me a little “….so that presents some possibilities that I could have a great year”. There’s no I in team, although I guess there is a me.

Well hopefully it’s just at the end he was referring particularily to just himself. At first he was talking about how the defence is for the team and as he was compared to Jason Taylor he kinda just focused on how the defence may directly affect him.
