I was excited when we picked up Tyrell Sutton after the draft because I remember him causing fits for the Badgers. He looks sharp tonight. One thing I’d like to see tonight yet is a screen (and not a Brian Brohm terrified-last-ditch-effort screen). I’d like to see how Sutton, Lumpkin and others are at catching the ball out of the backfield. My understanding is that Sutton in particular is quite good catching the ball. With the group of RBs we presently have, though none seem spectacular, all 5 seem quite capable – cutting that position down to 3 could end up being difficult.

I wanted to give him a few minutes here, but man, Brohm just doesn’t look very good. He seems significantly slower than both Rodgers and Flynn and he seems to bail out of the pocket before he needs to. That 2nd pick wasn’t necessarily Brohm’s fault, WR should have had it, but it wasn’t a great pass.
I wonder if McCarthy is starting to wonder about keeping 2 QBs and 4 RBs – or maybe 6 WRs.
That was a fairly easy interception, but he made it. He makes plays and we should have playmakers playing – even if that means starting Bishop or Chillar over Hawk or Barnett.
I like the activity level of Capers’ 3-4 defense. It just seems like for the offense, it is much harder to know where the pressure will come from. I know Rodgers and others on offense have talked about this defense being much harder to practice against – I see what they mean.
My guess is that this switch to the 3-4 and Capers will make the Pack a Top 10 defense.
One concern I have about the 3-4 as the Packers may play it, is the potential use of delayed blitzes. I am not a fan of delayed blitzes – Bob Sanders used those from time to time in the 4-3. So often, a QB makes a decision about who he’ll be throwing to well before any delayed blitzer can even get close – which leaves the rest of the defense a man short. Something tells me though that we won’t see that too much with Capers – I’m hoping we don’t.
Seems like either Wynn is picking the wrong holes or Johnson isn’t picking up the right defenders to block. I’m guessing the latter.
Flynn’s throw also looking really good.
Bishop caused that interception. (Actually that was also a terrible play by Derrick Anderson.) Bishop just makes plays – START HIM!
that pass from Flynn to J Nelson was really, really nice.
That didn’t look like Donald Lee? He looked like a fleet-footed WR on that last pass play. Impressive.
