Cut Bush

December 22, 2008

Another underperforming Bush…just cut the guy.

Switching DE positions for Kampman working

December 22, 2008

I think this switching Kampman from left to right and back really helps.

Rodgers looks very sharp

December 22, 2008

Wow – Aaron Rodgers just had a really nice first half. He looks dialed in and his passes are really looking crisp. I’ve had it though with the MNF overplay of the Favre/Rodgers thing. I can’t until next year when producers may hopefully develop the sense to make sure that those incessant comments aren’t allowed.

It was interesting, Rodgers had a play where he dropped back normally, scanned the field and found nobody, and then got foot happy. He started hopping around and then it suddenly seemed like he told himself that he shouldn’t be hopping around so he stopped and set his feet and threw a strike to Jennings on the side. It was nicely done.

Keep it up Rodgers.

Screens screens screens

December 22, 2008

I am so glad the Packers ran a quality screen play there for Grant’s TD. Very nice play and good blocking by the O-Line I criticized earlier. We do that kind of play more because I think Grant executes that kind of play really well.

defense came to play

December 22, 2008

While I don’t think the Bears are that good offensively – I must say I am encouraged by the energy with which our defense is playing. Outside that poor LBs blitz a few plays ago, they have looked up to the task tonight. Let’s hope that continues.

nice “blitz”

December 22, 2008

Pathetic when you can’t tell if your LBs are on a delayed blitz or a regular blitz.

Party at the Hayes house

December 22, 2008

Having an extra beer now. I have been calling for fake punts on every punt for the last ____ number of years. I can’t tell you how satisfying that was. It was such a smart play call at the right time. And, it looked like they may have been going for a deep pass from Flynn, but that wasn’t there so he made a heady play on the run. Nice.

Kampman lined up at right DE last play

December 22, 2008

Anyone else notice that? I like seeing that. Some of the better DEs in the league switch it up here and there to distribute match-up issues across the line. DeMarcus Ware for Dallas does this really well and obviously, it works.

The Packers’ O-Line is horrible

December 22, 2008

I have been dancing around saying this for some reason this year. I have tried to be balanced about the reason for our running game being terrible and attributing a good amount of fault to Grant for just not getting it done. Fact is – I’m not sure Adrian Peterson would be gaining yards behind this group. This is one of the worst O-Line’s I have seen in Green Bay in a long, long time. I’m not being reactionary or dramatic. These guys absolutely suck.

Burress – not paying insurance

December 22, 2008

Ok, I just read the following from the AP re Plaxico Burress:

Add this to the growing list of Plaxico Burress’ problems: getting in a car crash and not having insurance on his nearly $140,000 Mercedes-Benz. The New York Giants wide receiver was sued last week in Florida’s Broward County Circuit Court for rear-ending a woman in May. Compounding the Super Bowl star’s defense, according to a document provided by the woman’s attorney, is the fact his car insurance lapsed three days before the crash. A letter from Allstate says Burress neglected to pay his premiums.Burress’ attorney, Adam Swickle, declined comment. Burress is still serving a team suspension for shooting himself Nov. 29 in a nightclub with an illegally carried handgun.

I just don’t get this. Just a couple of weeks ago, Shaun Ellis from the Jets was pulled over for speeding and the cops found pot, but more surprisingly found that Ellis also didn’t have car insurance. Maybe I’m just writing here from my watching-where-every-penny-goes mentality, but this seems ridiculous – especially on a $140,000 car!
