Man – read here about Shane Lechler just biding his time until he goes to the Pro Bowl again. The guy is a monster punter. Imagine him in a Packer uniform. Last year he had a gross average of 50 yards a punt and a net, yes, a NET average of over 40 yards per punt. That’s unreal. I wonder what it would take to pry a guy like Lechler away from the Raiders. If I were GM, I would seriously think about trading for him. How nice would it be to just not worry re punting. We’ve apparently had something like 10 punters since Craig Hentrich left. (I guess I’ll give this Kapinos guy a try first though as he does sound intriguing).
(By the way, I can’t believe the Pack brought Paul Ernster in for a tryout. Ernster was cut immediately by Pittsburgh after that horrendous game he punted in a few weeks ago. I don’t even know if he averaged over 30 yards a kick. I don’t care if there is a hurricane going on, that is well below even Derrick Frost territory.)

To acquire Shane Lechler, you’d have to strike a “sane” deal with Al Davis.
… Good luck with that. 🙂

high, high quality point there. Maybe we could just offer him an imaginary island somewhere…he might go for that.

The Packers are to Punters what the Bears are to Quarterbacks.

Much like linemen, TT uses punters to help keep his available cap money higher than the team’s total payroll. How long does Crosby have left on his contract?
