Vikings D-Line to take big hit?

by

Thanks to reader DaveK for alerting us to this article on foxsports.com by none other than Jay Glazer. In the article Glazer contends that BOTH Pat and Kevin Williams on the Vikes vaunted D-line may face suspensions – possibly of up to 4 games – if they are found guilty of using the “water pill” banned substance. They are apparently in the appeals process right now with the league. If both were to be suspended, that could obviously have a significant impact on the Vikes’ season – though I’d argue the combination of Gus Frerotte at QB and Brad Childress at coach has already pretty much ruined their season.

Water pills – used to cut weight or flush illegal steroids from the system. I wonder why these two Williams were using it. Some players who are prone to get too fat have to make certain weight or lose incentives built into their contract. Regardless, NFL rules are very clear on this and this was a banned substance for which they tested positive. And, it doesn’t matter if they inadvertently took a banned substance as the NFL has a list of approved supplements that players can take. Players have no excuse if they take a non-approved supplement that unknowingly contains a banned substance. I cannot see how they wiggle out of the four game suspensions especially when the league has suspended multiple other players for the same banned substance who I am sure could have used the same excuses. I wonder if the suspensions get handed down by Nov. 9th when the Packers take a trip to that crap hole they call a stadium.

ahhhh…. bears-bashing, vikings suspensions, lions losses piling up like flapjacks in front of a hungry canadian — now THIS is what a good bye week is all about.

being a packer fan is sometimes like sitting in a bunker while the world outside (nfc north) blows itself up with friendly fire.

Pat Williams was using water pills so that he could squeeze into his wedding dress.

The appeals process. Love how that works: player caught doing something illegal, the NFLPA immediately appeals. It’s like a Pavlovian response, regardless of the severity of the incident. I am sure they try to figure some way to have the suspension start 5 minutes after the Packers-Vikings game completes.
