More Mortensen: Favre Has Spoken to Bucs, Jets

Chris Mortensen, who spoke to Brett Favre this evening, reports on ESPN’s Sportscenter that Favre “has spoken to both” the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New York Jets.  Mort: “I don’t know who he has spoken to in Tampa, I’m presuming it was Jon Gruden, and he decided to go ahead and speak with the Jets.  We think the Bucs are the logical team.  One of the things that was getting in the way here was that the Packers were — it appeared that the Packers were asking for more compensation from the Bucs than the Jets, which is in a way trying to control where he’s going.” (Ed: Imagine that.)

Mortensen also said that Favre knows he’s got to get into camp.  And he puts the timeline for a deal to be done within “24 hours or 48 at the latest.”

How much you wanna bet he bails on going to Tampa?

I bet he is talking with both the Bucs and Jets and then turns around and says that neither team is an option for him. He only wants to go to the Vikings so he can stick it to the Pack and their fans. Its almost a mortal lock that he bails on the Tampa stuff.
