Read this article ripping on Favre. I could launch into a lengthy counter-argument, but I’ll let you read the article and write the guy to tell him what a moron he is. (Nice town name by the way…Yelm…)
The people like this are the ones that seem to forget that football is a team sport. I won’t deny Favre made some (incredibly) stupid mistakes and that they seemed to occur more frequently in his later years. But those were also the years when he had a sieve for a O-line, a defense that gave up 4 and 26 and Bill Schroeder was his top receiver for a few years there. Yes there were times Favre brought the Packers down by doing something stupid. But he was also the reason that the team did well consistently. Over the last 16 years no team did as well overall as the Packers. And with four head coaches, two GMs and a lot of personnel changes the one constant was Favre. Tom Brady is considered to be one of the best, if not the best, QB ever. Yet he looked at best mediocre when the Giants defensive line was coming after him in the Super Bowl. A QB can only do so much and Favre did more with less than really any QB I can think of.
