Yeah, I think hawk was absolutely awful until he got hurt. He can’t run with a RB or TE and always seems to miss the tackle in the hole. They abused him in that first quarter as he was giving up 10 yard gains every other play.
Hawk played his worst game of the year. The backups provided some enthusiasm and aggression. Agree Williams and Francious both played better than Hawk.
I suspected that if an injury gave DJ Smith an opportunity, that he would prove to be effective. I had just hoped it would not be Bishop that sustained the injury.
Who do you think is more effective, hawk or DJ Smith?
Smith has shown the ability to shed tackles, which I’ve observed is a glaring weakness of Hawk’s. I suspect, given the opportunity, that Smith’s #tackles per minute of playing time would be better than Hawks. And he couldn’t be any worse in pass defense, an area that has never been a Hawk strength.
