I like this pick for position – though I must say I know very little about Sherrod in particular. He looks huge and report is that he’s a bright guy. Seems to fit the mold. I just like adding to our depth along the line with Clifton getting close to being done.

Seems like a good value pick at #32. He has the size, arms, and build to be a LT. From what I read he is a very smart and high character guy. Not a power blocker but has great feet for a big guy. Sort of like Clifton.
Sits a year behind Clifton which keeps Bulaga at RT which might be a better spot for him. Let’s Lang slide over to LG which MM has indicated might be his best spot. Could be a special group of big guys protecting the franchise QB for a long time.

The first pick by the Packers to protect Rodgers is fine by me.

Can’t really complain about this one much. Sounds like his primary weakness is being understrength. Seems like a solvable problem.
We should also remember, Clifton does not practice. Assuming Cliffy stays healthy enough to play Sherrod will be able to practice with the first team every day. This seems like the perfect situation.
Still really want another OLB…

rusty – good point about the practicing. that’s true. he’ll get lots of reps. and i agree dave k, let him learn behind clifton for a time and then bring him on when he’s needed.

I think this a good pick. Bulaga has been great taking over for Tauscher but we need someone for when Clifton can’t go anymore. I can’t say I know much (or rather anything) about this guy but most of the commentary seems fairly positive. He’s quick, he’s big and he needs to work on getting a little stronger – something I think is very fixable. And anything that will protect Rodgers from getting hurt is a good thing in my opinion.

Funny stuff coming out about the draft. Angelo tried to trade up with the Ravens to pick Carimi. I guess he was worried about the Packers making the same trade and jump in front of them to get their player like they did last year with Burnett. But, Angelo forgot to phone the trade into the league. Ravens thought the Bears were on the clock and missed their pick. The Ravens got their guy a few picks later but now have to pay him more because they picked him earlier then if the trade had gone through and they do not get the 4th round draft pick. They are pissed and want a 4th round pick from the Bears. Angelo was still lucky to get Carimi a few picks later but I’m guessing he just burned a bridge as far as dealing with another team.
