My question is, how misleading are defensive statistics.

Packers were #1 and #2 in defense for most of the 2nd half of the season. I found it puzzling. Then I looked at the stats for their two losses against Minny. Minny scored a lot of points, but their field position was so good that the longest drive was no more than 40 or 60 yards.

Then I watched how many penalties Chuck Woodson gets and it clicked that no wonder the yardage isn’t accumulating. The penalty yardage is what’s not showing up in the statistics.

And don’t forget the injuries. Al Harris might have helped make the difference.

Yeah, and if the Packers had Payton Manning, Larry Fitzgerald, Tony Gonzalez, Adrian Petersen, a healthy Walter Jones, Dwight Feeney, Ray Lewis, Lance Briggs, Julius Peppers, Patrick Willis, Troy Polamalu…..they might be able to win the Super Bowl….even with that idiot that they have as a head coach…..maybe next year….LOL

Yeah, that was painful. I would rather have seen Rackers make that final FG try than see it end the way it did.

Still, don’t forget there are some good things to take away from this game, and this season:

–When was the last time the Packers came back from 21 points down? Amazing effort, even if it was ultimately denied.

–11-5 and a playoff berth is amazing progress over the 6-win season a year ago.

–Like last year, the offense played like champs.

–Don’t forget, this is the first year under an entirely new defensive scheme, with a whole new coaching staff on the defensive side of the ball. If the Packers D improves next year even half as much as they did this year…

This is heartbreaking but I ultimately this may be a good thing. These guys are going to spend the entire off-season wanting to erase this memory. Hopefully we’ll get Al Harris back, shore up the O-line more, maybe get a new punter, and come back next year ready to improve on this year.

Doesn’t make the loss any less painful but at least it may be something to keep us going until summer.

Tough beat, but plenty to be enthused about.
As far as Judas vs Aaron, there is 0% that #4 could have executed that comeback. Not nearly consistent enough, and would have thrown it away at least twice. Rodgers is impressive.
