According to NFL.com, the Green Bay Packers’ defense is the top-ranked defense in the NFL. The site’s default ranking measures yard-per-game in rating defenses and the Packers are tops at 281ypg. New York Jets are second, followed by the Pittsburgh Steelers, the New York Giants and the Denver Broncos.
The Packers rank 12th in points per game, at 19.5.
Not sure who said this initially (Joshy?) but I honestly don’t think it’s a stretch to say Woodson is one of the most valuable players in the NFL. He does more for his defense from the corner spot than most MLBs can do for their team. He finds a way to disrupt opposing offenses every single week – even in weeks when QBs try to throw away from him. He is a great cover corner, great at interceptions, great at stripping the ball causing fumbles (which he just did there) and possibly most importantly, he is fantastic tackler.
And for those of you who saw the pregame special on Woodson donating $2 million to a children’s hospital in Michigan, you know his greatness isn’t restricted to the football field.
That long completion to Northcutt was more Stafford making a nice play than Bush/D making an error. Nice pass by Stafford.
If McCarthy wanted to run the ball, he should have done that on first down. Running on 2nd and 8 doesn’t do much unless McCarthy has already told the team this is 4 down territory. Finley should get a look down in this area because he’s so tall and he has good hands.
Crosby almost missed that 20 yard FG. The only possible explanation for that is that he is mentally struggling big-time. He needs to snap out of it asap.
3rd and 8 an the Pack chooses a zero yard pass hoping Driver can wiggle his way into the endzone. That was a dumb play call. There was only one blocking WR out there to clear the way for Driver and there were 3 defenders. Dumb play call.
What a great play by Lee. You could see Lee decide on that play not to wait for his blockers and just jump right through/over the defenders. Great play Donald Lee.
Forgive me for using a very non-football term to describe that bomb to Driver, but that was truly beautiful.
Wow- fantastic pick at a very important time. Now, we need a TD – McCarthy shouldn’t even consider a FG on this drive and he should tell his offense that right now. “We’re going for every 4th down, no FGs”.
