Bears’ QBs – unreal

by

Like Jay Cutler or hate him, the following stat cited by Clark Judge in his article today, helps to explain why Chicago gave up so much to acquire the guy:

Cutler has a passer rating of 100 or better in his past three starts, the first Bears’ quarterback to achieve that since the statistic was first introduced in 1973. When Cutler has a passer rating of 100 or better, his teams are 13-0.

Amazing no Bears’ QB has done that for 36 years, amazing.

Not even Drew Brees? That is a surprise.

Ron – sorry, clarified it there in the post…no BEARS’ QB has done that for 36 years. I wouldn’t be surprised if Brees/Manning and co do it multiple times a year. I would bet that every other team in the league has had a QB attain a 100 rating for 3 consecutive games at least once over the last 36 years.

That’ll teach me to try and read without my glasses on. In the case of the Bears, that’s not surprising.

Here’s to Atlanta breaking Cutler’s streak and crushing Chicago. Couple that with a Minnesota loss and the Packers are right back in the hunt for the division (not that they were ever out of it).

Also, a side note: one often hears the media talking about franchises with a “win now” mentality. The Vikings are such a team. Perhaps it’s just me, but one of the great things about the Packers is that they definitely are still in the middle to closing stages of rebuilding a franchise, or in other words a “win later” mentality; yet, in many ways they nevertheless have the potential to win now and win big. I know this isn’t in any way a novel revelation. However, it really makes me excited about the future!

That explains why Favre held many of the passing records in Soldier’s Field despite only playing there once a year.
