Just read that the Korey Hall and Will Blackmon injuries have opened up spots on the 45 man game-day roster for Brandon Underwood and Quinn Johnson. I’m particularly excited to see Quinn Johnson get in there. While Kuhn and Hall have been OK at FB so far this year and in past years, they are clearly not exceptional and seem to be on the team more for their special teams play than for their FB talents. (In fact, neither were FBs before being drafted/picked up by the Packers – Kuhn was a RB in college and Hall was a LB.) Well, Quinn Johnson is a true FB who can force the issue leading for Ryan Grant. He is incredibly strong and now that he apparently knows the plays a bit better, he could really help our running game – and perhaps our passing game if he’s left in at all to protect Rodgers on pass plays.
Watch carefully this week for that moment when Johnson knocks some LB off his feet and the announcers pick up on it. It will happen if he plays.
