josh: the Packers also had a very good running tandem in Green and Davenport during (most of) the Sherman years. One of the big reasons the Packers went 4-12 in '05 was that Green and Davenport only played in 5 games each before landing on IR. Samkon Gado was the Packers' leading rusher that year (and he didn't make it to the end of the season, either).

i'm repeating my point from the far off distant land of cheeseheadtv, but i am a bit guarded when i think that the packers had pretty mediocre receivers (usually one pretty good and nothing else) and an average defense during sherman's tenure. we won a bunch of division titles with a big-armed qb. yes, i know it's not a perfect comparison. but be careful what you ... aren't so scared of. and lest we forget, we went 6-10 last year, are entering this season with almost entirely the same personnel, a handful of new coaches and a new system on defense.

as far as the scheme/coaches go - that's a coinflip as to whether it's a positive or a negative, at least for a year or two.

we may have a renewed rivalry in a few years.

Wow. Two firsts and a third is a lot to give up for anybody. Factor in that Cutler just Favred his way out of Denver, the Bears still don't have anyone for him to throw to, or much of a running game, and an aging defense...

Maybe they did this just to keep him away from the Vikings?

How do you think Jay Cutler will fair in Chicago? I don't know if he can take criticism very well, may not be a good fit. Plus no WRs to throw to!
