Details here. One reason to sign Smith, as Tom Silverstein pointed out yesterday and Greg Bedard reiterated today, is that both Nick Collins and Atari Bigby will be unrestricted free agents after this season — if the Packers don’t extend them before then.

Yeah! The Packers finally made a move in free agency.

Yes Cindy he finally did make a move. From what I can gather Smith has a ton of talent but tends to not be too sharp from a mental standpoint–

Hopefully he will be coachable. Also, considering Bigsby & Collins will be UFA’s next year (I think) I hope thay don’t look at this negatively. I’m sure TT feels he got him at a pretty good price. If they can get his head in the game it’ll be good to have some depth. I hope Bigby gets healthy and comes back with some more big hits like in 2007. Of course, those big hits may tend to leave him “unhealthy” more so than not.
It’s pretty obvious I’m not a big TT fan but I’ll take this one as a positive; for now anyway.

And now they bring in Kevin Carter (Miami 36 yrs. old), for a look. Hey, I’ll take it. At least it’s one of the positions they should be focusing on this year. Signing a back up Safety doesn’t send chills up my leg, to paraphrase wome lunnie from msnbc. UFA for the Safety twins is next year’s problem. The pathetic front seven is this years problem.
The goal should be win in 2009 not 2011.

And now thanks to TT, Ballz, Ryan Grant and Bret Favre, Tramon Williams’ agent says he will not report to training camps until he has a new contract. He played a few good games and now he’s Deon Sanders?
