I’ve found Leinenkugel’s Original is the best beer value. About 55 cents per can (if you buy a case). Bourbon neat on the side. Knob Creek, because you save so much on the beer. But even “cheap” bourbon is okay because of the strict requirements to make and sell it.

Why not? And since we are talking about beer, I will once again plug the new (old) recipe Schlitz. It is fantastic and has found a home in my fridge. I don’t want to insult the PBR fans but I think the new (old) Schlitz is better. (if I have never done so before, I ought to disclose that my law firm represents Pabst, which owns the Schlitz brand. I do not get a cut of the sales).

But my first choice is a glass of rye whiskey on the rocks.

As much as I hate to say this, I perfer products from the small ( refuse to call them botique) brewers. I want beer to taste like beer. If I want water, I have a tap. Nothing better than to fire up the grill, light up a Romeo y’ Julieta Churchill and drink a beer that tastes like the beer I drank from quart bottles when I was underage (Not telling you the year). That’s Living!

as a segway between this and the ‘old man injuries’ posts – i’ve found that before i’ve even approached 30, beer has become josh-go-to-sleep-now-juice. it reminds me of an austrian fellow i know, who used to say that ‘all beer does is stimulate my bladder.’ then he’d piss on the side of a building in a small and very old town somewhere in the alps.

i hate being the guy with a glass of bourbon in one hand and a red bull in the other, but… wait, i don’t hate that at all.

Good ole Natty Light. I go to a decent sized college (9000+ students) in eastern PA and I’ll tell you this much…On a Friday/Saturday night, nearly every good party you go to is going to have a keg or three of, you got it, Natural Light. When it’s that cheap, and you’re a financially struggling college student, you buy whatever you can for as less as you can, and Natty never lets you down.

With that said though, I’m still surprised it’s number five.
