Andy - I agree on Mangini (bring him in) and Crennel (It's like Weekend at Bernie's sometimes with him. It would not shock me to see Andrew McCarthy standing next to him holding him up on the sideline.).

The word on Mangini is that he is a hard nose coach that isn't afraid to call out players. I think it would be an interesting dynamic for coaches that are sometimes loyal to a fault (see Sanders, Stock).

I definitely think we should consider bringing in Mangini. I think he is a smart coach who could help our defense. I do not think we should consider Crennel. I don't think he's been blessed with great defensive personnel, but I just don't think he's that good. He gets that washed over look on his face when things aren't going right that says "I have no idea what to do next". Mangini though could give us an injection of immediate creative energy that could transform our D.

Interesting though re Parcells. I too read that he will have the chance to walk away from his contract if he wants to. My guess is that he'll stay there and that the new owners will want to keep him there after what they've done this year.

Joe, like your comment on Favre - Rodgers did show he is a high quality player and TT deserves some kudos for being so confident in the guy, even if he didn't handle the whole Favre thing well.

Right now there are two successful former D coordinators out on the streets looking for work: Eric Mangini and Romeo Crennel. I think either of these guys would be an improvement over the incumbent, and neither is likely to get picked up by anyone as a head coach. I think we ought to at least be talking to them.

Hopefully Farve will hang up his cleats. Great career that really needs to stop. He's gonna get hurt. Don't ya know Pennington is having a good laugh. It does need to be noted that for a guy to report to camp AFTER it has begun, totally learn a new system & have his team in the playoff hunt & on top of his division mid season says a lot about Brett's abilities.

Here's some food for thought. There is a clause in Bill Parcell's contract that states if the current owner sells the Dolphins he can walk away with the balance of his $12,000,000 (Which is now $9,000,000.00) and be a "free agent". The owner just negotiated a deal to sell 95% oif the organization to some body in Detroit. (Irony of Ironys, I think it's a Ford exec.)

Anyone think it would be a smart move to remove Murphy and bring in the Big Tuna?

Just read online that the Jets have fired Mangini. I wonder if that will play into Favre's decision on his return next season. I watched the Jets-Dolphins game and it hurt to see Brett play so bad. As Hunt said in today's paper, it sure makes the decision to go with Rodgers look good. Comments, gentlemen?

Detroit--pathetic. Read non sports article by Matt Labash in Dec 29 Weekly Standard by going to www.weeklystandard.com. Would not want to live there--Lions or no Lions. I applaud the Lions effort today. Limited talent, maximum effort. Kevin S. has a future but needs self control-without that penalty we could have been looking at another OT game (assuming Lions could have stopped GB). Rodgers is far better than any of us anticipated. Pack will be back.
