Last night was definitely not Rodgers' fault. He did what he had to do in the clutch completing that 3rd and 9 pass to Jones to set us up nicely for a field goal Crosby should have made. Even in the Minnesota game, Rodgers helped get us into field goal range giving Crosby the chance to win the game. Yes, Rodgers has thrown some bad picks in the clutch this year and he (and McCarthy and the whole offense) could use some extra work in the 2-3 minute drills. That's true.

But I think last night should essentially be considered a success for Rodgers in terms of doing his part to lead a last-second win. We needed him to deliver down the stretch in a big game and he did. And frankly, I can see a day in the near future when other teams are going to be uneasy facing Aaron Rodgers in the clutch (that is, after we get a new O-Line, possibly abandon zone blocking scheme, make plays less predictable and re-establish a running game).

I think the Lions win next week. Detroit will be leading late, 24-23, with 5 minutes left in the game, and then Aaron Rodgers will lead the Pack on an 80 yard drive culminating in a touchdown to take the lead with 5 seconds left. But the Lions will run back the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown to win the game 31-30.

And then we'll get to hear about how this is just another example showing that Aaron Rodgers can't win a game in the final minutes. . . .

Well, by crapping down their leg once again they have guaranteed themselves a top 10 draft pick. Right now they are tied for 8th/9th spots with the Jags. The 49's hold the 10th spot with six glorious wins. Cleveland, Raiders, and Seahawks hold the 5th,6th, and 7th spots with four wins each.

This is what I saw of Mike McCarthy's post game conference: Mike comes out looking sad. He uses his pathetic disappointing sounding voice to say, "We didn't get the job done."

What I would like to see ina Mike McCarthy post game conference: Mike comes out hot, full of piss and vinegar. "Our defense couldn't stop the Bears and our special teams killed us. Mike Stock and Bob Sanders have one week to turn things around. If they manage to do that, they just might, might, save their jobs."

The announcers for the Westwood One broadcast of it (At work and had to follow the game online) described it pretty accurately. Said how Crosby just hit it way too low for it be any good.

Also, side note, during the radio broadcast, Boomer Easiason called Bears fans jackasses. For real. His partner panicked for a bit and kinda wanted him to apologize for it, but Boomer wouldn't.

In the immortal words of Herm Edwards, "You play to win the game."

I have yet to get the impression from MM this season he knows how to do that. He calls an overly conservative game when the game is on the line. You can feel the team tightening up as the 4th Q has progressed in every close game.

Every aspect of this team has folded under pressure this season, even Rodgers at times, though he is by far the least offender.

How does this get fixed? The draft? FA signings? New coaches? Or are we just the snakebitten team that can't get out of it's own way this season? And is this season worse than 2005?

More importantly, if the Lions keep it close I may end up rooting for them late in the game while I'm sitting in Lambeau next this Sunday.

God help me.
