Snowblowing tip

by

For those of you dealing with the wet, heavy snow that has been falling last night and today in Wisconsin, I want to share a tip I learned recently that helps…a lot. Some of you may have already heard of this, and if so disregard (or, go ahead and read it and say to yourself “I’ve tried that and indeed, it does work”).

Anyway, before turning on the snowblower, take a can of Pam from the kitchen, yes Pam, possibly one of the weakest product-names out there. It would be like re-naming WD-40, Jeff. So, take the Pam and spray the inside of the chute of the snowblower. Again, this is helpful when it’s a wet/heavy snow (when snow is not too wet, no need for it).

My mother-in-law told me about this and I hadn’t tried it until this morning – the wettest snow we’ve had in a while. It worked like magic – and it also helped to lubricate the chute itself making it easier to change its direction.

Snowblower? I actually have 3 of them: one is 9 yrs old, one is 7, the other is 6. 3 shovels, 3 pairs of snowpants, gloves, etc., send them out the door and tell them not to come in until it’s done.

Seriously though, I had not heard of that. Thanks for the tip Andy.

This made me laugh very, very hard. Thanks.

“Seriously though?” I do make my 8 and 6 year old shovel. I even have a shovel for the 3 year old – she is almost ready.

Joe/Trav – can’t wait to put my son to work. Even though he’s only 17 months, my wife did buy him a shovel not long ago. She thought it was cute – I thought it was an important gift to give him so that he understands before he can even understand, that he will work.

You said, “So, take the Pam and spray the inside of the chute of the snowblower…” Is that Pam Anderson?

  8. Trav Says:

Joe – Poor word choice. I am definitely in the same camp as you and Andy in that work is expected and required.

  9. Joe Says:

    Your a good man Trav.

Dang it – you’re a good man Trav. (Can we get a preview screen?)

I just pay the kid next door. It’s so much easier and no whining.

This is very hot information. I think I’ll share it on Delicious.
