Em and I just agreed that the cause of most of our colds in the last few years is a single incident - throat irritation. If we yell a bit too loud, try to make a growling noise at our dog, or mimic Louis Armstrong, we're usually sick the next day.

It's disappointing that those activities can no longer be a part of a healthy lifestyle - but I do feel more quiet, more human, and less stoned while playing the trumpet.

Oops sorry guys, chalk that up to me being a newbie.

Aaron, where's the this week's Podcast? I'm all depressed sitting in my office watching the rain and listening to Packer Therapy. At least the market's up (momentarily)

Just to let everyone know: My girlfriend said her parents aren't going to the christening either. So looks like we're ALL watching the Packers/Bears game in Queens! Whoo Hoo!

PS. Last time I watched a Packer game with her parents was last year's home Vikings game when we shut them out. We were at her parent's condo in Palm Springs and it's a quiet, closed community and mostly elderly folks and here I am going nuts! I remember my GF's father saying something like "Frank, take it easy--it's only a football game, you're going to hurt yourself." And I looked at him and said: "Yeah, but this is the Vikings!!" ...

The correct answer is, "Because you were drinking Grolsch." That stuff is death skunked over.

As for the Pack, they also need to get well. And if Sexy Rexy's the QB, that's the perfect medicine for any team that's ailing.

Ron, I saw that on Jsonline's Packer Blog:

http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/34343374.html

Thanks for the feedback Aaron! Dr. Phil's got nothing on you!

I do live in NY, just north of the Bronx in Westchester county. So it's about a half hour trip to Queens by car. My thoughts are: if she suggested it--she can't come back at me with it. So why not watch the game. She is close to her cousin but not like sister close. The whole family lives in Queens so it's like moms, dads, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc, and they get together frequently, like birthdays. She's a great gal and I've officially converted her into a Packer fan so she understands.

One thing I do wonder about is this: how many diehard fans miss games? And, if so, under what circumstances??

I grew up in WI and the games were always on TV so I guess I took them for granted (and the Pack sucked in the 70's & 80's so I was more of a Bears fan). Now, as an adult, I go to crazy measures to watch them. Whether it's a sportsbar or my summer house in PA with DirectTV (I live in a co-op so I can't have a dish on the outer edifice) or at the very least listen to Wayne and Larry on the internet.

I don't ever remember my Dad not being able to miss a game (and he played football for Marquette and was drafted by the Rams in 1955) He was a sportsman, so he'd be off fishing or hunting on Sundays--usually dragging me with him. So now, and for about the last 20 years, I'm this huge Packer fan and the world may end for me if I miss a game ...

Andy, as soon as you feel that first hint of a cold, go into the medicine cabinet and pull out an Airborne, drop it in a glass of water, let it fizz (that's always cool) and drink it. I do this and have not got sick for 4 years (knock on wood.)

I agree with the general thrust of Andy's post but there is a difference here; your talking about going to church - not just a regular weekly service but a baptism - as in the cleansing of sins and a rebirth into salvation. Sorry guys but God trumps football.

Solution – go to church and DVR the game and watch it later.
