Crap – Cullen Jenkins out for the year

by

Read here at jsonline for more. Thanks, by the way, to reader Ron L for pointing this out to us.

This hurts. He has been pretty good thus far. We are already thin at D-Line and we’ll miss his talent but perhaps more than anything, his versatility. Jenkins could play both DE and DT and was decent at both. Now, we face an even more concerning shortage of quality players on the D-Line. Perhaps someone can step up and surprise, that’s always possible. But right now, I’m feeling a bit doubtful.

This is bad. It seems like the defense was not as good as last year, even before injuries to Bigby, Harris, and now Jenkins.

If this keeps up, it’s going to be hard for the Packers to get to even 8 wins this season. :-(

Hey some good news — Jolly’s felony drug case delayed untill Oct. 22. His mother pleaded with the judge to let her son have more time. Wait a minute that wasn’t his mother that was TT in drag.

Four games in and it seems we surpassed last year in terms of injuries to key players. I think losing Jenkins really hurts. He was a beast this year and was constantly in the backfield making plays or pressuring the QB. Kampman gets the double team and KGB gets to run past the pocket that much more. Looks like Mike Montgomery will get a chance to shine.

I could talk to Gilbert Brown and see if he wants to un-retire. I see him in the Dells area all the time.

i think someone should check the locker room for empty 5hr energy bottles — http://packergeeks.wordpress.com/2008/09/22/braylon-edwards-now-we-know/

i suppose there is always the possibility that this type of injury causes someone to step up – jenkins is good, but hasn’t quite played to the level packerland hoped he would, and those type of plateau players are sometimes given a leg-up on younger players because of salary or seniority. i don’t think that’s mccarthy’s/thompson’s style though. i really think the best man usually wins the job nowadays, and that makes me less hopeful for a backup surprising us all with brilliant play.

at least back in sherman’s day, we knew that he’d start robert ferguson and ahmad carroll if jerry rice and champ bailey were backing them up.

Ya, our season looks to be a mess,…too bad, but,…we gotta fight on !!!

    Josh,

Guess that means we can’t count on Montgomery? In the Dallas game he gave us a perfect example of Zone Blocking. He got his slow, undisciplined butt pushed across every dman zone on the field. Felix Jones sent him a thank you card.

Go to a 3-4 and get Bishop into the game (That assumes AJ can play). KGB is only playing a very limited number of snaps and there is no one else left.

  8. Ron La Canne Says:

Opps! Lets add Hunter to the injured list. Seriousness unknown.

Jeebus. I hate to say it, but it may be time to stick a fork in it.
