Bob McGinn reaches a similar conclusion in today’s editorial: the Packers came to realize that Favre is not the answer for both his conduct off the field and his performance on the field. This assessment was made many months ago.

With respect to the so-called open competition, McGinn writes: “The club floated that idea to promote trade value as well as to placate players, fans and coaches in the unlikely event that Favre got on the practice field.”
