McCarthy Knocks NFL Schedulers

By sfhayes

At his press conference two weeks ago, Mike McCarthy raised the issue — unprompted — of the Packers difficult upcoming schedule. He pointed out that the team plays 4 games in 18 days — a scheduling and gameplanning nightmare, courtesy of the NFL.

McCarthy raised the issue again during an interview on Fox Sports radio. It sounds like he did it in a jocular fashion, but it’s hard to imagine he’s not more than a little pissed about it. The Cowboys get two home games before their November 29 Thursday night game against the Packers; the Packers travel to Detroit for a Thanksgiving game and then on to Dallas for that game one week later.

It’s the second time this year that the schedulers were unkind to the real America’s real team, the first coming when the Packers traveled to Denver for a Monday night game and then on to Kansas City for a second road game on a short week.
